Press Release for New Government of Anguilla Website
Friday, July 20, 2007

The Department of Information Technology and e-Government Services in conjunction with various Government departments and ministries has completed the initial development and posting of the new Government of Anguilla website. The new website will enhance the presence and image of the Government of Anguilla in cyberspace and will provide the general public, residents, visitors, prospective investors, Anguillians overseas and the global village with far more information and resources than what was previously available. From a technical point of view, the dynamic structure of the new website will make it easier to manage, maintain and update.

The website now consists of approximately 80 static pages along with 15 dynamic pages but it is flexible enough to accommodate much more information. The Government of Anguilla recognizes that content is the most important aspect of any website and as a result the Department of information Technology will be committing full time resources to the maintenance and upkeep of the website and will be upgrading the web pages  for the Department of Statistics, Post Office and the Royal Anguilla Police Force in the near future. In addition the Department of IT is inviting persons to peruse the site and submit constructive recommendations as to how the website can be further improved and what information and resources citizens and residents would like the Government of Anguilla to put on its website.

The Department of IT worked closely with Acromedia, a US based website development company, to do the initial design and development of the website. The next step for the Department of Information Technology is to create a secure, dynamic, online presence for some of its revenue collection and payment systems like SIGTAS, SmartStream and ASYCUDA.

The Ministry with responsibility for information and communication technologies would like to thank the entire staff of the Department of Information Technology and other individuals who made valuable contributions for their hard work and dedication during the building stages of the project. In particular the Ministry would like to thank the Director of Information Technology, Mr. Vaughn Hazell and the project leader Mr. Rudy Webster for the successful implementation of this project.

The new website is now on par with other regional Government websites such as the Government of Cayman Islands and the Government of the British Virgin Islands Websites

The Department of Information Technology and e-Government Services was created in 2000 to lead the computerization of Government of Anguilla. It is widely recognized in the Caribbean as one of the better public sector information technology departments. The staff of the department comprises of about 20 hard working and dedicated Anguillians and is expected to grow rapidly as more government services are brought online.
