An immigration officer was suspended from the Anguilla Public Service based on public interest grounds, pending the outcome of criminal charges brought against him. Following the outcome of the criminal charges a determination as regards the officer was to be made in accordance with the Public Service Commission Regulations and the General Orders governing the public service. The officer resigned by letter dated 11th February 2011. The officer pleaded guilty and on 14th February 2011 was sentenced in relation to 4 counts of corruption. He was fined a total of EC$14,000. Failure to pay the fines will result in imprisonment of up to one year.
